Felixstowe Judo Club Open Randori;
Monday 21st March 2016
Thought I’d let you know about an Open club randori being run at Felixstowe JC on Monday 21st March, 5pm – 7pm, it is their last session before the Easter break.
This a chance for inexperienced red belt judoka from local schools and judo clubs to come together for a training session, useful for gaining competitive experience at a venue different to the one they are used to.
The club aims to run one of these sessions each school term moving forward.
The session can also cater for more experience judoka, with several yellow belt U12s currently training at Felixstowe JC weekly, along with a selection of larger red, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, Black Youth/Seniors
The session will be led by Dave Martin (6th Dan), so if you would like further information contact him on 07976 216386.
Wayne is unable to attend as club coach due to the start time, and remember we will be open as normal during the Easter break.
Please see our events page for useful dates for your diary. More information is available nearer the time or on request for any that may be of interest.
Also information on the upcoming Getting Started in Completion event for those interested in competing for the 1st time. Remember you have to be 8yrs old to compete in Judo, but I have asked the question for those who are under if they are able to attend.
Please remember not to enter direct as we do this as a club or unless otherwise advised.
We will be looking into holding an in-house competition (no age restrictions for this) – dates to be advised.
It is with regret that this year we be having a break from Judo during the Summer Holidays, due to holiday commitments of both coaches and members. There are competitions held during this period of which are of any interest we will assist as normal as best we can.
I’m always a text or email away for any questions you may have.

What an absolutely fantastic turnout last night!! 25 students on the mat all keen and ready to learn. All the beginners enjoyed their 1st session, from the warm up, learning break-falls to their first throw and hold!!
A big well done to Wayne and Gail (assisting) on taking such a large session, keeping them all engaged and wanting more!!
See you all next week!!
Hope everyone had a lovely break. It was lovely to see some old and new faces on the mat over the holidays. Numbers have picked up which is great!!

Thank you for your continued support at Stowmarket Judo Club. We aim to deliver a high quality and affordable sessions for all ages. All our coaches help on a voluntary basis and we operate on a not-profitable basis.
Our fees have remained the same for many years, and with our overheads increasing each year our committee have arrived at the difficult decision to raise fees to £4.00 per session commencing 1st July 2015. This increase will ensure the on-going, financial security our club.
We will be offering only 1 free session for new starters. Also please be advised future grading will no longer be subsidised by the club, therefore, on grading nights, club session fees will be in addition to the grading fee (which goes to the British Judo Association, via the club. Revised fees as follows:
| ||REVISED STOWMARKET JUDO CLUB FEES|
(as of July 2015)
(8’s and over)
|Juniors (6pm session)||£3.50||£4.00||£7.50||£10.00|
|Juniors (7pm session)||£3.50||£4.00||£7.50||£10.00|
For those who stay for two sessions consecutively, one fee of £4.00 for both sessions will remain.
Thank you for your continued support and please contact the committee representatives with any ideas you have about promoting our club, or to discuss this letter further.

Eastern Area Squad in Holland – June 2015
Well done to all who took part in the Eastern Area Squad in Holland! Joe Terry says it was great fun but exhausting. He won his first two fights but as there were four in his pool who all got the same points, the pool was re-drawn and he had to fight two of the same players again. He won one, lost the other which put him through to the knockout round. Unfortunately he lost on a penalty! He was really pleased with his performance as they were all brown belts! Also Lewis and Jake can also can be proud of their performances having 3 fights and both winning one of them against higher grades (blue belts) – well done all!!
Numbers are still low for our senior session – please feel free to come along 7.30pm on a Thursday and have a chat
